Snacking with the Easy Cream Puffs Recipe

I love dessert like most people, but sometimes they feel too heavy. Luckily cream puff feels fluffy and light because the choux (outer pastry dough) isn’t as heavy or dense as say a shortbread. To me, its main purpose is to hold the cream which is perfect because the main highlight is the cream. Without the cream, cream puffs wouldn’t be anything special. The size is perfect for bite-sized treats and light so that I don’t feel stuffed. This way I have desserts without feeling bad for not having lunch or dinner.

Choux

To make the choux, we start off by boiling water and butter together. As the water begins to boil, remove it from the stove.

Quickly add in cake flour and begin to mix, then put it back on the stovetop. Continue until the water evaporates and you’re left with a dough-like consistency.

Let the battery cool for a few minutes and then add in the egg wash to mix together with the batter.

Place the newly formed batter into a piping bag and dispense evenly onto a baking sheet. You can pre-mark your placement with flour with a small cup to keep them the same size.

Preheat the oven at 390 F (200 C) for 20 minutes then bake until 355 F (180 C) for 30 minutes. and bring it down to 320 F (160 C) for the final 10 minutes.

Cream

To make the custard, heat up milk with a whole vanilla bean until it boils.

Whisk together eggs and sugar and then add flour to continue mixing. Then pour it into the milk to combine together.

After mixing everything for a few minutes, strain out the batch to remove the vanilla beans and any other impurities.

Pour this back into the pot and leave it on high heat and stir until you get a cream-like consistency. Let it cool in the fridge.
