Mac and Cheese balls are a more fun take on the classic American food that about anyone loves. It has everything we need to help us on those dark and gloomy days – cheese and pasta. There’s nothing better than cheese and more cheese to bring your mood up, but even better when its with pasta. There’s something about pasta that feels right. The mac and cheese is satisfying and filling with every bite. Its not a diet-friendly snack per-se, but its for those who want to enjoy all the cheesy deliciousness.

Mac and Cheese Balls For Any Occasion

Whats better than having comfort food is by turning comfort food into finger food. Imagine being able to have all the deliciousness of mac and cheese by picking it up with your hands and taking a bite.  Mac and cheese were already great, but mac and cheese balls makes them more super convenient. The balls are easy to get your hands on, but at the same time you don’t feel overwhelmed by having a whole plate of mac and cheese. Since they’re so easy to eat with each on ball forms, its definitely not for those on a diet as its easy to keep eating and eating.

Kerri Ann’s Kraving makes amazing mac and cheese balls. Her mac and cheese are mixed with seasoning and an assortment of vegetables that gives the mac and cheese more flavor. The best part however is the coating. Mac and cheese tends to be a creamy and gooey goodness, but these have a complementary outer layer of crunchIn fact, the crunchy outer coating is what makes it taste so damn good. Normal mac and cheese is all one consistency and feels like you’re eating something that’s never ending. But with these, you get the feeling of a beginning, middle and end. These cheese balls are coated with flour, eggs, and most importantly panko breadcrumbs. They’re tiny pieces of flakes that creates a subtle yet crispy layer to mac and cheese.

Mac and Cheese Balls from Kerry Ann's Craving

Macaroni and Cheese

  • 1 pack Macaroni
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 box Mixed Sweet Peppers
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 can Evaporated Milk
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups Sharp Cheddar
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

Cheese Balls

  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 2 cup Panko Breadcrumb
  • 2/3 cup Vegetable Oil


Making Mac and Cheese

  • Bring a pot of water to boil and cook the pasta until al dente
  • Remove the pasta and let drain of excess water
  • Heat up a pan and add the evaporated milk, heavy whipping cream, and salt
  • As it begins to melt, add in diced sweet peppers, eggs, mozzarella cheese and sharp cheddar
  • Cook and churn until it becomes a smooth and consistent sauce
  • Add in the pasta and mix to completely cover with sauce

Turning into Mac and Cheese Balls

  • Remove the macaroni and cheese and let rest
  • Use hands or ice cream scooper to form balls with the macaroni
  • Separate all purpose flour and panko breadcrumb into separate bowls
  • Mix milk and eggs together in another bowl
  • Dip each macaroni ball into (1) all purpose flour, (2) egg & milk mixture, and (3) panko breadcrumbs
  • Heat up a pan of oil and fry each macaroni ball until it is golden brown all-around

The Convenience of Mac and Cheese Balls

The best part of these mac and cheese balls are its convenient The only utensil you need is your hand. Pick up and pop in your mouth its that easy. You don’t have to grab for a spoon. In fact, you don’t even have to make a fresh batch of mac and cheese; you can use leftover mac and cheese to make the balls.  And don’t worry if you can’t finish them, these mac and cheese balls heat up well in the oven.

Add in the pasta to boiling water and cook until al dente. Remove, drain and set aside.

Add in heavy whipping cream, evaporated milk, and salt into a pot and simmer until mixed.

Then add in diced sweet peppers, eggs, and both cheeses. Continue cooking until it becomes completely smooth and melted.

Add in the macaroni from earlier and stir together. 

Scoop out with an ice cream scooper and mold into balls by hand. 

Dip each macaroni ball into flour first, then egg and milk mixture and finally panko bread crumb.

Once completely covered, heat up a pan of oil and get ready to fry.

One by one, add all the macaroni balls into the pan of oil and completely fry until all-around golden brown.

Serve as is or garnish for decoration.
